The Age of Covid-19:

In many ways, Covid-19 has been a catalyst for a whole host of changes that were already in development, but undeployed, thanks to our increasingly online and digital lives.

From the shift to working from home to new rules about how we meet and interact in public spaces, tech trends have been the driving force in managing the change, coping with and adapting to this new world of work and learning.

In response to this new era, Village Tech has itself invested in virtual learning technologies, skills and relevant content that will enable the continuation of learning and development and ensure social distancing regulations.

Top Tech trends for 2021:

2020 was a disruptive year, not only for the global population and businesses, but for the tech industry too. As far as our industry was concerned, the disruption has accelerated digital transformation, accelerating developments that may have taken 3 to 5 years to become entrenched in common usage.

Given these developments, here are five tech trends we think we'll see within the next 11 months:

1. Artificial Intelligence (AI)

2. Robotics, Drones, and Vehicle Automation

3. The As-A-Service Revolution

4. 5G and enhanced connectivity

5. Extended Reality (XR) – Virtual and Augmented Reality (VR/MR).

As a wide array of companies re-examine the functionality of the workplace and recalibrate to varying levels of a work-from-home or work-from-anywhere, we'll start to see more traditional office workspaces become periodic collaboration hubs, while home offices become the day-to-day workplace in a new hybrid work model. As a result, employers will need to equip their full workforce with the right tech tools, deployment, and IT support to maximize productivity and collaboration – for both working from home and in the workplace.

“The advance of technology is based on making it fit in so that you don't really even notice it, so it's part of everyday life.” - Bill Gates, Co-founder of Microsoft.
