Technology Learnerships present such a wide field of career opportunities in Information Technology.

IT has emerged in all trades, businesses, and industries around the world. This career path has some of the most rewarding, as well as interesting, information technology learnerships opportunities.

With IT, one can enter basically any industry, from designing to production or even mining, banking and sales. IT mainly focuses on technological advancements, not only computers.

Application requirements for Technology Learnerships

  1. Candidates between the ages of 16 and 30 are urged to apply 
  2. Matriculated with Mathematics and English at a minimum 50 % pass rate 
  3. Must be a South African Citizen 
  4. Currently unemployed 
  5. Candidates must not hold any criminal record 
  6. Candidates with disability must have medical proof confirming the disability 
  7. Certified copies of all documentation must accompany applications. 

Village Tech offers the following SAQA accredited Technology Learnerships:

  1. National Certificate: Information Technology: End User Computing – 130 credits
  2. FETC: Information Technology: Technical Support – 163 credits
  3. National Certificate: Information Technology: Systems Development – 131 credits
  4. National Certificate: Information Technology: Systems Support – 147 credits

National Certificate End User Computing NQF 3

Minimum requirement for this learnership is Grade 11 with Communication and Maths Literacy at NQF 2.

This qualification provides a framework for learners to develop skills that will enable them to become competent in End User Computing. 

It introduces theoretical concepts of End User Computing and requires the application thereof, to develop a range of skills that will enable learners to be better-informed workers in their chosen industry. 

The qualification provides a balanced learning experience that lays the foundation for access to further education, lifelong learning and to productive employment.

Further Education & Training Certificate: Technical Support NQF4

Minimum requirement for this learnership is National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) with English & Maths Literacy at NQF 3.

This qualification will enable learners to install and manage Windows 10 from small/medium to large enterprises. They will be able to provide end-user support within any company, maintain the entire lifecycle of the operating system and do a seamless upgrade from previous versions of Windows. 

For technical support on the end-client side, this programme will definitely cover all aspects needed for learners to be the administrator of the client-side operating systems.

National Certificate Systems Support NQF 5

Minimum requirement for this technology learnership is National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) with English & Maths Literacy at NQF 4 or an NQ4 equivalent qualification.

Once qualified at this level one will be a well-rounded IT professional building on foundational technical skills acquired at NQF level 4, via the National Certificate in IT Technical Support or equivalent. 

This qualification is expanding the specialisation(s) started at NQF level 4 into the core field of networking and support, with further specialisation(s) into IT Support fields or in any other related vertical or enabled markets.

National Certificate Systems Development NQF 5

Minimum requirement for this technology learnership is National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) with English & Maths Literacy at NQF 4 or an NQ4 equivalent qualification.

This course is suitable for those who want to build a career in systems development. 

This program will equip learners with skills and knowledge required in the organisation to create, maintain and improve IT systems. A system developers role includes database management, web programming, solving business problems, writing code, and creating multimedia.
